Lower Your Hot Melt Application Temperature! Why Now?, 1995 Hot Melt Symposium Proceedings

There are hot melt adhesives commercially available for case and carton sealing designed for application at 125-150 degrees Celsius. These hot melts offer virtually trouble free operation and friendlier operating environments. By applying hot melts at these temperatures rather than at the common standard temperature of 177 degrees Celsius, char formation is essentially nonexistent. This avoids downtime caused by blocked nozzles. At the cooler application temperatures, odors are reduced and the work environment is considerably improved.

A review of the characteristics and performance of these types of hot melts is the goal of this paper. Also covered will be guidelines on how to effectively use these hot melts.
