Bulk Flow Eva Copolymers, 1996 Hot Melt Symposium Proceedings

Bulk shipments of ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymers containing more than 25% by weight vinyl acetate and melt index greater than 150 g/10 min. (ASTM D1238 Cond. E) readily block and form a nonfree flowing mass. Techniques for reducing blocking and improving the bulk flow of EVA copolymers have been developed and their effect on the bulk flow of EVA will be described. The bulk flow of a 28 %VA, 400 MI EVA was improved enough to allow easy unloading from a hopper car shipped from Edmonton Alberta to the southern U. S . in the summertime.
