Low Vscosity Styrenic - Block Copolymers for Hot Melt Adhesives, 1996 Hot Melt Symposium Proceedings

The structure of styrenic block copolymers greatly affects the rheological properties of the polymer and its end use applications. A new generation of radial and partially a branched block copolymers has been designed to have low melt and thermally stable viscosity that impart low viscosity to formulated adhesives. The polymer and the formulated adhesive properties are investigated through the polymer dynamic mechanical properties and through other physical/chemical testings. Correlations between polymer properties and the adhesive functional performance were also discussed.
