Advances in Hot Melt Adhesives for Extrusion Coating, 1997 Hot Melt Symposium Proceedings

Government regulations restricting VOC emissions have driven the development of compliant heat activated adhesives with performance equivalent to high performance solvent systems. Many approaches have been taken to meet the needs of the adhesives industry with varying degrees of success. Among the approaches taken, hot melt adhesives designed for application via extrusion coating have proven capable of meeting many of these challenges. Current advances in the development of this technology provide a means of obtaining VOC free adhesive systems matching the performance of materials previously available only as high VOC containing solvent systems.
