New water dispersible hot melt adhesives have been developed for a variety of paper bonding applications such as tissue/towel lamination, roll wrap, bag ending, and cigarette plug wrap. The water dispersible feature of these hot melts makes it possible for the paper mills to recycle their wastes via their repulping process. A variety of adhesive formulations have been developed for these and other applications. These adhesives, which are based on a new polyester technology, have an excellent balance of hot and cold temperature properties, excellent repulpability, and performance comparable to conventional hot melts.
