My TAPPI Story: Naomi Gehling
After debottlenecking the two pulp production lines in 1997 with the construction of a third new recovery boiler in the Barra do Riacho complex, Aracruz Celulose decided in 2000 to erect a new pulp line, including the retrofit of the three recovery boilers. In order to reach the new demanded black liquor firing capacity, the 3 recovery boilers were retrofitted. The first boiler (from 1978) had all the pressure parts rebuilt, increasing its firing capacity from 3.960.000 to 7.600.000 lbs dry solids/day. The other two boilers had their capacity increased from 4.800.000 to 7.600.000 respectively. This paper aims to show the main features of those three recovery boiler retrofits.
