Combustion By Design : Optimized Combustion For Lime Recovery Kilns, 2004 International Chemical Recovery Conference
In times of rising operating costs, falling pulp prices, and ever tightening environmental legislation, combustion
optimization offers the lime kiln operator the means to face these challenges and add value through improved kiln
performance.
From the experience gained from more than 250 model studies, Kiln Flame Systems (KFS) discuss the modeling
techniques - physical, mathematical and computational - which are used to model kiln performance and how they
can be incorporated into an effective combustion optimization strategy. The company demonstrates how this
methodology translates into optimized burner equipment while taking account of the impact of varying kiln or
cooler design, different fuel types, dryer systems, chain section design, and NCG and SOG elimination
requirements.
