Existing evaporator and concentrator sets today are required to remove more water and produce higher solids
than ever before. Incremental capacity improvement may be achieved in a variety of ways without major capital
improvements. Evaporator capacity upgrades can be accomplished with 1) changes to everyday process
operations, 2) adding washing capabilities, and 3) adding some heat transfer area. Several case histories are
presented where mills achieved increased capacity with little or no new equipment.
