My TAPPI Story: McKenna Goulette
The new fiber line at the Aracruz Cellulose paper mill in Aracruz, ES Brazil features state-of-the-art pulping and recovery equipment, including the new D Line Evaporator system. Designed, supplied, and installed by HPD and Confab Industrial, this seven effect, eleven body system has achieved the technical hurdle of producing 80% total virgin solids on Eucalyptus based liquor using only 3.25 kg/cm2 (46 psig) steam. One of the largest trains in the world, the evaporator system efficiently processes 3450 t/day (7.63 MMlb/day) of black liquor solids with a total evaporation rate of 791 T/h. An integrated stripper and liquid methanol rectification system insures environmental compliance, while advanced condensate segregation techniques minimize production of foul condensate and allow the remaining condensates to be efficiently reused within the mill.
