Vertical Air in Practice - Operation Experience From a New Recovery Boiler Air Distribution System, 1998 International Chemical Recovery Conference Proceedings
A paper at 1995 ICRC (1) presented a new recovery boiler air distribution system. At that time the new system, here named shortly “vertical air”, had been tested only with computer simulations.
A computer simulation at its best is a powerful tool for calculation of e.g. flow patterns. Although a skilful person can predict the qualitative behavour of most process properties by examining the simulation results, exact quantitative results can be obtained as far only by full scale practical testing.
A Swedish pulp mill installed a short and partly irregular version of vertical air in a boiler as described in (2). The author of this text was testing the boiler together with the operators during several months, and presents in the following some general observations.
