Removal of Chloride from Electrostatic Precipitor Dust, 1998 International Chemical Recovery Conference Proceedings
Pollution prevention is a major focus for the U.S. pulp and paper industry. The kraft process is the prevalent pulp production method (1). Industrial experience shows that chloride will build up in the liquor cycle. High levels of chloride and potassium then lead to costly mill shutdowns (2,3). A selective purge is therefore needed (4,5). It has been found that chloride and potassium are enriched in the ESP dust, which makes ESP dust a good candidate for a chloride purge process.
