My TAPPI Story: McKenna Goulette
G.J. Kang, A. Malekian, Y. Ni, Dr. Jack McKenzie
We reported a process in which peracetic acid is generated from the reaction of hydrogen peroxide and penta-acetyl glucose (PAG). This may be an alternative to commercial peroxy acids for pulp bleaching. The freshly prepared peracetic acid was then tested for activation in the OxO sequence. The results showed that the peracetic acid prepared in this method is equally effective in pulp bleaching as the commercial peracetic acid.
