Investigation on Mechanism and on Kinetic of Xylanase Prebleaching, 1996 International Pulp Bleaching Conference Proceedings

First part of this study deals with mechanism of xylanase pretreatment on pulp. Changes in internal arrangement of hemicelluloses (mannan, xylan) through the fiber wall before and after enzyme treatment (xylanase from Tricho-derma viride) were investigated by using the method of chemical peeling. Radial distribution of hemicelluloses in the outmost layers of fiber wall will be shown and dis-cussed in view of underlying mechanism of hemicellulase pretreatment. In the second part a new method for determination of ki-netic data of enzymatic reactions in pulp or model sub-strates will be presented. Using a flow injection chromato-graphy system it was possible to record the total amount of released carbohydrates as a function of time. Collected data were used to form kinetic equations.
