Looking at Product Life Cycle from Different Postitions-Panel, 1996 Life Cycle Assessment Symposium Proceedings
Sergio F. Galeano, Ph.D.
Georgia-Pacific Corp.
The Panel presents different positions from which product life cycle can be viewed. The author is interested in life cycle methodology as a potential user of a tool and as a producer affected by the use that others make of the tool. He discusses the efforts of his company and industry to see the life cycle methodology properly applied in marketing schemes affecting not only commerce but also trade. He anticipates a continued use of the tool for policy making and in the merging concept of extended product stewardship. He cautions about the limitations of the methodology and the need for a higher level of professionalism and adequate standards.
