A model was developed for the Franklin ozone bleach plant using an OZE0 D sequence with filtrate recycle and closure of the O, Z, and E,, filtrates. This model uses GEMS simulation to predict the effects of heat, pH, flow, lignin precipitation, and ion adsorption/desorption, and produces concentrations of various components in each stream and unit operation of the plant. This allows the effectiveness of various purge strategies and treatment approaches to be evaluated. Results of the model are shown to match mill data quite well for metal ions, key anions, and the effect of organic solids.
