In mid 1991 and early 1992 two separate BCTMP pulp-mills started up their respective operations using freeze crystallisation and evaporative technologies. The first mill located in, Chetwynd B.C. converted to the evapo-rative process after a year of difficulties. Since then the two mills (the second mill located in Meadow Lake Sask.) together have over seven years of successful closed loop operation. This paper outlines the pulping and recovery operations the Millar Western’s Meadow Lake pulpmill.
