In conventional effluent treatment installations utilizing a secondary biological stage, total flow to be treated can be reduced, and the performance of the biological treatment can be enhanced by addition of single purpose flotation and filtration systems. Advanced technologies used for total closure such as membrane filtration and evaporation can be used more effectively and economically by use of flotation/filtration as a pretreatment stage.
