MSP Coating: Recent Developments and New Challenges, 1998 Metered Size Press Forum II Proceedings

The published results of MSP coating research are critically reviewed and interpreted in terms of potential changes in commercial film coating operations which could improve their efficiency and extend their application range. The development of Film Coated Offset is singled out as the main achievement of early film coating research. A few published papers have made a good start in understanding the factors influencing processes in the MSP metering and transfer nips. Now research is required on the detailed mechanisms operating in both nips and the interaction between them. A number of parameters are suggested on which research should be focused for the benefit of film coating mills and equipment and material supply companies.
