Use of Nonwovens as Components of Noise Reducing Assemblies, 1990 Nonwovens Conference Proceedings
Previous research into the noise absorption and insulation capacities of some nonwovens indicated the feasibility of their use in the noise control industry. The suggested paper deals with the design and applications of textile assemblies made of nonwoven fiberwebs, woven fabrics and tufted carpets for noise reduction prupose. Results of measurements and some theoretical aspects of noise absorption and noise insulation coefficients of such combinations, in the audible frequency range, are displayed and evaluated. Applications of these findings for the design of acoustic ceilings and of noise reducing blankets made of textiles, are discussed.
