Polyethylene-cellulosic fiber composites were prepared at different concentrations (O-40% by weight) of fiber. Cellulosic fibers were pre-coated with a polyisocya-nate/ silane coupling agent to improve the interfacial adhesion between the fiber and polymer. Significant improvement in tensile strength was achieved when isocyanate pre-coated fibers were incorporated in the polymer. Tensile modulus remained relatively unaffected by fiber treatment.
