Influence of Specific Energy on the Properties of Hydroentangled Nonwoven Fabrics, 1993 Nonwovens Conference Proceedings

There has been limited publication about web processing with hydraulic entanglement and resulting end properties of the fabrics. Here some common processing variables, such as specific energy input and basis weight are considered, as well as different energy ratios of fast side to total energy input. In addition, carded and crosslapped webs are compared. Results of strength tests, stiffness, thickness, wash durability, and fiber loss are discussed. Some results are compared to those for conventional woven and knit fabrics.
