On-Line Infrared Measurement of Nonwovens, 1993 Nonwovens Conference Proceedings

Full Spectrum Infrared (FSIR) sensor technology provides on-line measurements of the physical properties of nonwovens. Recent advances in infrared detector technology, signal processing, and calibration techniques enable measurements which were not previously available on-line, including moisture, binder concentration, and fiber blend. Full spectrum processing allows multiple measurements to be provided by a single physical sensor. Coupled with automatic control, on-line SPC analysis, and quality data archiving, FSIR technology assists nonwovens processors in complying with evolving certification requirements.
