Novel Polymer Systems, 1994 Nonwovens Conference Proceedings

Traditional emulsion polymer systems have a variety of limitations in the market place. The copolymerization of monomers is largely controlled by reactivity ratios, thereby limiting what may be the optimum combination of monomers either from a cost or performance criteria. Also, common polymer systems utilizing N-methylol acrylamide as a crosslinker to achieve performance release formaldehyde as they cure. Formaldehyde poses a health, environmental and regulatory concern.
