Computer Optimized Experimental Design (COED) Study of Glass Fiber Handsheet Properties as They Relate to Production Parameters, 1994 Nonwovens Conference Proceedings
Leo A. Tischer
A computer optimized experimental design (COED) study was conducted relating basis weight (BW), loss on ignition (LOI), urea-formaldehyde-to-latex ration (BT), age of binder blend (AOB), cure time (CT), & defoamer level (DL) to three handsheet properties: dry tensile strength, wet tensile strength, & Elmendorf tear strength. The study used a D-optimal design of second order. The usefulness & Validity of this approach was demonstrated, as well as the various effects each of the factors had on the three primary responses.
