A brief introduction to the technology elements necessary for Xerographic (Electrophotographic) Black & White Printing will be given first, followed by the extensions necessary to achieve Color Printing. An appreciation of the current mar-ket size and future predictions of size will be given next by using the estimated world-wide revenue numbers for the ma-terials consumed in office oriented products. This will be followed by typical examples of Black & White and Color Document evolution from simple to complex and from low area coverage images to high area coverage images. Next comes a discussion of the trends related to the changes occur-ring in electronics as well as design evolution, and finally to the creation of markets beyond the office.
