Vapor Transport During Drying as it Relates to Binder Migration, 1992 Nonwovens Conference Proceedings

The properties of nonwoven fibrous webs are affected by the binder content and binder distribution. There are many factors that influence the distribution of the binder in the web. Thermomigration of the binder dispersion during drying is an important consideration. The drying method selected and the method of dryer operation can greatly affect the finished quality. The transport of water and water vapor in and from nonwovens and the pressures and forces acting which affect the location of the drying interface are discussed.
