Testing of New "Super ULPA" Filters, 1992 Nonwovens Conference Proceedings
Current technology allows filter manufacturers who employ wet-laid microfiberglass media to produce filters that are up to 99.999999% efficient on 0.1 micrometer diameter particles. However, current testing instrumentation and methods are not sufficient to perform routine non-destructive efficiency tests economically. Until improved methods or instruments are available other means of quality assurance must be accepted. Several options are discussed in this paper. The specifiers and purchasers of such filters are cautioned to work closely with the manufacturers of media and filters to develop appropriate quality control measures.
