Pressure to control formaldehyde and reduce VOC emissions in the environment has been steadily increasing. Recent technology advancements in emulsion polymers have resulted in improved environmentally compatible systems. These value-added differentiated co-polymers possess performance properties and processing efficiencies comparable to or in excess of current industry standards with substantial reductions in formaldehyde emissions. Design of these binders must encompass not only end use performance requirements, but also method of application due to modem production methods becoming more specialized and sophisticated. Performance advances in high heat temperature resistance, tensile strength, modulus and nonwoven resilience can be realized in environmentally safer polymer systems.
