Wet-Laid Pet Polyester Microfiber Handsheets, 1992 Nonwovens Conference Proceedings
This paper discusses the physical properties of 0.2 denier PET polyester microfibers produced by Schuller International Inc. (formerly Manville Sales Corporation) and the effects of pulping time and consistency on wet-laid microfiber handsheets.
It was found that excellent handsheet formation could be obtained using between one and three minutes of dispersion in a blender at various fiber concentrations. The effects on mean pore size, caliper, density, and permeability are shown and a quantitative Formation Index was used to compare formation quality.
