There are many ways and methods to attack any project. Implementation of the ISO 9000 series of Quality Systems Standards is similar to other projects in this respect along with the fact that you will live with the results for many years to come. This paper will explore the methodology many companies have used to he successful in this “project” of seeking confirmation by registration to these standards. The keys explored will include: how to organize management at two levels of intervention with the project, how to decide which standard is for you, what to do first and first in priority, the initial procedure you need to document and finally the tools to keep it all going and healthy, e.g. audits and reviews. The return on investment that companies have received will be discussed as a final point.
