In recent years, apparatus being utilized to melt blow polymers have undergone tremendous technological growth. Driven by the desire to produce high quality media at more cost effective rates, equipment suppliers have sought continually improved process control and machining technologies. The resulting equipment has provided the end user with the following enhanced capabilities: a diversified range of processable polymers, increase in production capacities, minimal fiber diameter spinning, narrow fiber diameter distribution, cross web basis weight uniformity’s of less than +/-2.5%, all being provided at greatly reduced energy consumption rates. Equally important have been the inherent reduced maintenance requirements, significant increases in machine up-time, overall operational ease and long term equipment reliability that accompany designs of this advanced magnitude.
