Formulating Binder Systems for Nonwovens with Epoxy Resin Waterborne Dispersions, 1997 Nonwovens Conference Proceedings
Waterborne epoxy resin dispersions can be used effectively as modifiers for many nonwoven latex systems (1). These nonionic dispersions are fully compatible with a number of latexes. Formulating latexes with waterborne epoxy resins can enhance the adhesive strength, mechanical properties and chemical resistance of these systems.
In this paper the chemistry of waterborne epoxy resins will be reviewed The relationship of structures to properties will be presented in order to aid in the selection of the correct epoxy for your latex system. This is illustrated with examples which provides an understanding of these principles for superior results.
