Courtaulds Lyocell Fibre for Papermaking Applications, 1997 Nonwovens Conference Proceedings

Courtaulds Lyocell® is a cellulosic fibre produced by direct dissolution of cellulose. The resulting fibre properties are distinct from those of other cellulosics, and make the fibre ideal for technical products. The ability of the fibre to split into fibrils of sub-micron size during wet processes makes it suitable for use in papermaking processes, generating papers with interesting characteristics. Processing the fibre, paper properties that can be achieved and specific product attributes will be discussed.
