Electrostatic Properties of Fibrous Electret Filters, 1998 Nonwovens Conference Proceedings
The filtration efficiency of a dielectric fibrous material can be greatly enhanced by electrostatic charging. The charge retention life relies on the charging techniques, the material properties and the basis weight of the fibrous mat. The charge decay rate can be accelerated by heat treatment of the material. This paper discusses the inference of thermally-stimulated charge decay rate to charge decay at ambient conditions for meltblown polypropylene (PP) webs with and without peroxide additives as well as the influence of basis weight on electrostatic charging capability.
