Bicomponent fiber technology, by definition, involves two different polymers with variety of ways to arrange them in the filaments. This paper discusses how the fiber spinning, web forming and calendering in a spunbond process can be affected by choosing the right combination of polymers and their arrangements. As a result, a variety of new spunbond products with desired structure and properties can be designed and produced.
