Tuning the Liquor Heater Temperature Controls on a Single Vessel Kamyr Digester, 2000 Process Control, Electrical & Info. Conference Proceedings
Neil J. Zaccari--Temperature and alkali are the two dominant factors that determine pulp quality (K Number) in a Kamyr digester. Temperature variation in the cooking zone will carry through to the K Number of the pulp leaving the digester. A rule of thumb states that 2 deg F can change the K Number by one unit. It is therefore desirable to maintain stable temperatures throughout the cook.
