My TAPPI Story: McKenna Goulette
Jaime Medlin, Rodney Bartell--At the present time there are many buses available for use in industrial applications. Users must pick and choose from these to best fit their application. Each of these buses offers advantages and disadvantages. This presents a challenge to the user in his decision making process. Implementation of any new bus is a costly and time-consuming venture. No one wants to make the wrong decision that they will have to live with or re-work. This paper will discuss some of the various buses and technologies presently offered. We will then offer our view of an ideal bus or "Fieldbus of Dreams" from a mill users’point of view. We will examine the problems of implementation associated with current bus technologies. Hopefully, this paper will help our technology suppliers better understand the users’ wants and needs.
