N. Nessar, A. Gräser--This paper presents a method for measuring basis weight with high spatial and timing resolution based on ccd-line sensor sensitive to visible light. To ensure better accuracy the transmitted light is calibrated with the aid of a conventional beta ray transmission gage. By performing the calibration method it is possible to obtain the true basis weight from light transmission gage. The calibration method used here is based on power density spectrums calculated for basis weight profile measured by each gage.
