Process Control in the Pulp & Paper Industry in the 1990's, 1991 Process Control, Electrical & Info. Conference Proceedings

Process control is moving rapidly to the distributed control systems platform as supervisory control strategies and logic controls are implemented on them, in addition to the basic control loops. These new Integrated Distributed Control Systems (I-DCS) will increasingly be used for paper machine controls. We need to increase our application and results focus to assure continued funding of distributed control systems. This will be particularly important in the early 1990’s as the paper industry is moving away from large capital projects to getting the most from existing processes.
