Sizing and Cavitation Damage Reduction for Stock and White Water Control Valves, 1991 Process Control, Electrical & Info. Conference Proceedings
The growing use of medium consistency stock pumps and the higher temperatures of machine stock and white water has caused more problems in the sizing and selection of control valves. Recent work reported in the TAPPI Journal has shown that pulp stock absorbs cavitation effects, thus separating the problem into pulp stock sizing and thin stock or white water cavitation. The two problems will be addressed separately.
Recent laboratory studies in Finland have produced accurate new stock consistency sizing coefficients up into the 14 and 16% consistency range. Very recent studies there provide better guidance in handling cavitation problems in thin stock and white water applications. Now both conditions are predicted in a new personal computer program for control valve sizing. New valve constuction options to help solve these problems are shown.
