The promise of millwide information system benefits have been proclaimed by many people in and associated with the Pulp and Paper Industry over the past several years. The need for information sharing has been well established and understood. The actual benefits of an implementation, however, have remained somewhat abstract and hard to quantify.
Several mills in the US and Canada have been successful implementing integrated information systems. Through enhanced data presentation and information access to management, operations staff and customers, tangible gains in production performance and quality have been realized. Discussions will focus on what’s been done at several of the mills and how success was achieved.
