Use of Online Computer Simulation for RDH Control System Checkout, 1992 Process Control, Electrical & Info. Conference Proceedings

The Beloit RDH pulping system consists of multiple intermediate liquor holding tanks interconnected to a train of digesters. Given the complexity of the process, constructing a computer simulation prior to startup is a prudent idea.

A detailed dynamic RDH simulation was developed. This simulation was interfaced to a distributed control system for the purpose of debugging and optimizing the control programs prior to startup. It is estimated that several weeks of startup time were saved.
