Pulp & Paper Applications of Neural Networks, 1993 Process Control, Electrical & Information Conference Proceedings

Malcolm C. Beaverstock

Mary C. Hinson

Neural networks are the newest technology available for control applications. Many problem areas in pulp and paper might benefit from their usage. However, this exciting and innovative technology is not industry-specific. A neural network could be used in an office as well as in a mill. To reap the full benefits of this technology, practical application issues must be considered. This paper reviews neural networks and their possible applications in pulp and paper, and then gives an overview of the realities involved in those applications.
