Integrated information and control systems have been implemented in a recycled paper mini-mill as part of a fast-track project. A consortium of suppliers teamed up to deliver the entire mill including DCS, PLC, Gauging, and Production and Quality Management Systems. The effort utilized advanced techniques and tools to coordinate schedule reviews, automate system configuration and documentation, and implement system graphics. Major systems, tools utilized, and staging/integration of system components will be discussed. The efficiency and benefits of the integrated fast-track approach will be rated by mill startup and commissioning results.
