Optimizing Color Controller, 1997 Process Control, Electrical & Info. Conference Proceedings
A color controller which optimizes spectral reflectance and other color spaces is presented. It uses a reflectance based process response model, from which it dynamically calculates models for other color spaces as needed. Color control through reflectance optimization has several benefits, including minimization of metamerism. Also, tuning of dyes is independent of grade, resulting in fast commissioning.
Color control results from three mills are presented.
Colored paper grades, the coloring process, and color measurement are discussed. A brief outline of color coordinate systems is appended.
