The application will be a data acquisition and tracking system for a large paper cup and plate manufacturer. The host will be a Personal Computer monitoring discrete and analog I/O functions from the shop floor using a bit level component control bus network. The major reason for using a control bus network was to cut down on parallel wiring and bring the distributed I/O functionality out to the plant floor. Hence, a tremendous cost savings in comparison to conventional control systems.
