Producing Coextruded High Barrier Heat-Shrinkable Packaging Films, 2002 PLACE Conference Proceedings

Multi-layer biaxially oriented barrier shrink films remain the package of choice for fresh and processed meat applications requiring long shelf life. These films are also widely used in poultry, cheese, and sausage packaging applications. This paper will review the process and recent equipment developments for the production of these unique films. Further it will examine and compare the various high barrier polymers/structures and offer some guidelines for matching film performance with application.
