Practical Relationships for Designing Extrusion Coating Screws and Dies, 2002 PLACE Conference Proceedings

Extrusion coating equipment can be designed by using sophisticated software available today on the market. However, in daily practice where quick estimates of the parameters involved are needed, the application of elaborate software can be time consuming and costly. Starting from resin rheology, this paper deals with easily applicable practical relationships for dimensioning extrusion screws and dies, which enable the optimization of coating processes. The formulas presented can be calculated even with a hand-held calculator. Numerous worked-out examples illustrate their use.
