Effect of Amide Composition on Performance as a Plastics Additive, 2002 PLACE Conference Proceedings

Fatty acid amides are used as slip, antiblocking and mould release additives in a variety of polymer applications. The naturally occurring oils and fats, which these materials are derived from, are made up of a range of chemical constituents. The amide itself is prepared from purified fatty acids generated from the triglceride raw material(Figure 1). However, not all the minor components can be separated from the mixture and some are carried through into the final product.
