Using Simulations to Predict Coating Characteristics of a Slot Die System, 2004 PLACE Conference

PressWeb.jpg

Slot dies are premetered heads that uniformly apply coatings to substrates. To provide defect-free coatings, dies must be positioned such that an ideal geometry is formed between the die lips and the substrate. Many geometric parameters are adjustable, so it is wise to use an accurate simulation tool to find the proper die position before starting production. Simulations predicting coating characteristics will be compared with laboratory results to demonstrate the accuracy of the software.
